Supported: .xml, .musicxml, .mxl

No file at hand? (Clementi, Sonatina op. 36 no. 1).

How it works

Jianpu writes each note as a number, its scale degree: 1 is the key note, so in "1 = C" a 1 is C and a 5 is G. Dots above or below a number move it an octave up or down, lines under it shorten it, dashes after it lengthen it, and 0 is a rest. It is how a great deal of music is printed and taught in China.

The converter draws your MusicXML in Jianpu with the numbered-notation mode of OpenSheetMusicDisplay (OSMD), the MusicXML renderer we maintain: the numbers, their rhythm, slurs, ties, lyrics, dynamics and key changes such as 转1 = F.

Questions

Is my file uploaded?

No. The score is drawn and the PDF is made in your browser, and the file never leaves your computer.

What does transposing change in Jianpu?

Mostly the key: the numbers stay, as they are scale degrees, and "1 = C" becomes, for example, "1 = D". Octave dots can change where the music moves across an octave. The transposed MusicXML can be downloaded too, for a notation program.

Why is the PDF made of images?

The fonts built into PDF readers have none of the octave dots, the ♭ and ♯ of the keys or the Chinese characters that Jianpu uses. So the pages go into the PDF as images, drawn by your browser: they print sharply, but the text is not selectable.

Can I get the score in staff notation too?

Yes: MusicXML to PDF prints it in staff notation, and Transpose MusicXML transposes it there.

Built on OpenSheetMusicDisplay Jianpu mode (OSMD Extended 2.2.1, by PhonicScore), jsPDF 4.2.1 and svg2pdf.js 2.8.1 (MIT).
